You’re my boy zach! Stoked you got to ride down the coast to Monterey. It’s a highlight living here for sure. Constanoa is nice. I once shucked oysters for a party there. Back when I worked at an abalone farm on davenport landing road. You passed it when you rode thru on highway one. Hope you get to do it again next year. I also love that ,most of your list is California based companies. Great work Zach. Keep it up big fan over here.

Comment on BikeRumor Editor’s Choice 2024 – Zach’s Gear of the Year by Patrick https://bikerumor.com/bikerumor-editors-choice-2024-zachs-gear-of-the-year/#comment-3531559 Thu, 26 Dec 2024 14:50:08 +0000 https://bikerumor.com/?p=374694#comment-3531559 Those fat bike tire covers are something that took me a bit of time to finally buy, but I would buy them over and over if something happened to them. Take my studded set in the car as an extra set? No prob. No more scratching the interior or other stuff. No longer scratching racks because I can take the studded set inside the vehicle. No longer scratching stuff inside at the home from moving to or storing wheels I don’t use 10 months of the year. They fit really well too.

I agree, I wouldn’t want the Vulpine S as a front tire in slick conditions.

E bikes are now part of cycling culture. Stop being a gate keeper.

A bit lossy, heavier, and more expensive. But cleaner and low maintenance.
Gearboxes and gearhubs look much better for powerful riders and e-bikes.
And some specific use cases, like urban rides, touring…

I’m curious, what $200-$300 alloy pedals are you talking about?

Comment on FiftyOne Sika is a 690g pro-level road bike for real riders by Pete https://bikerumor.com/fiftyone-sika-road-bike/#comment-3531541 Tue, 24 Dec 2024 16:58:05 +0000 https://bikerumor.com/?p=358168#comment-3531541 Duff doesn’t mention it, but I believe the Stack and Reach as is, are due to the 40mm tire clearance. That seems obvious from the profile view. They’ve done a great job however of bringing the cockpit down with what is essentially a -17 “stem”. Unfortunately, the handsome in-house one piece unit options are limited and already outdated in regard to stem length and bar width. People want 120/36-38

Not only is Tacx taking FOREVER, but they’re owned by Garmin, who teams with Zwift on other projects. I’m not upgrading from my Tacx, so I’m just going to have to wait, I guess. Makes me mad every time I think about it.

Optimism, not greed. That’s all my comment was. What you infer is up to you.

I hope you have a great holiday season. May we all enter 2025 with a little more optimism and a little less aggression than in 2024.
